TOP 10 DeltaHawk Questions and Answers

 1.       Q: WHAT IS IT YOU’RE BUILDING?

A:      A new, lightweight, 2-stroke, piston-ported diesel engine for aviation, marine and other uses. It uses Jet-A or diesel fuel. We are using Jet-A for all our aviation program testing.

 2.       Q: WHAT’S THE STATUS OF THE PROGRAM?

A:      Eleven generations have been designed and tested. Production tooling & CNC programming is complete, and production parts have been produced or are in production. We are running engines on a Dyno, a mobile test stand and at OEM beta test sites.  Flight tests began May 3rd, 2003 and the first customer aircraft flew in January 2006.

 3.       Q: SO IT HAS FLOWN?

A:      Yes, since May 3rd, 2003.  We achieved and exceeded our power goals.

 4.       Q: HOW MUCH POWER?

A:      The V-4 is designed for 160, 180 & 200 hp as aviation models. We’ll also have 300-400 hp V-8 models.

 5.       Q: WHAT DOES IT WEIGH?

A:      Weight is currently 330lbs. with starter, alternator, oil pump, fuel pump, water pump, turbocharger, internal lines and internal exhaust system.  Weight reduction efforts will continue.

 6.       Q: WHAT IS ITS FUEL CONSUMPTION?

A:      Less than 0.3 gallons per hour @ idle, 7 gallons per hour @ 65% and 11.7 gallons per hour @ 200 hp.

 7.       Q: IS IT TURBOCHARGED?

A:      Yes ... supercharged and turbocharged.

 8:       Q: WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?

A:      We have non-aviation 150 hp engines and aviation 160 hp engines available for beta test installations now. We have shipped a dozen engines to OEM customers around the world.

 9.       Q: DO YOU PLAN TO CERTIFY IT?

A:      Yes. Initial sales will be Experimental, but we have begun its certification program. We anticipate it will be completed in 2008.

 10.     Q: HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

A:      An estimated $25,900 to $35,000 for V-4 models, and $30,000 to $55,000 for the V-8s (aviation model estimates).
